MEET YOUR CREW
Captain: Charles Dang
Chef: Eleanor Thomson
Captain Charles was born in Washington state and at a young age his family moved to Texas. He developed a love for boating and sailing on frequent outings within the Puget Sound and the Gulf of Mexico. In later years he learned to sail himself and learned the art of hospitality while assisting friends on charters in both the Pacific Northwest and the Mediterranean.
Charles started work in the energy and medical industries. He holds degrees in mechanical engineering, biology, and business and although he had a successful career in the corporate world, he left it all behind in 2018 to realize his dream of living and working on the water. He has since run numerous charters throughout the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
Charles can be described as a kind, outgoing person with a wicked sense of humour. His stories from his traveling background and easygoing personality make him an amazing host to all his guests both young and old.
In addition to sailing Charles is a seasoned traveler, constantly exploring new foods and cultures. Being himself a tourist at times, he understands how to make anyone feel at home in any new exotic environment, such as the Virgin Islands.
When not on the water you can find Charles restoring classic American muscle cars back in Texas. His background in engineering has never left him and he constantly loves to tinker and improve on things.
Eleanor grew up in the small seaside town of Dover in the Southeast of England, I grew up with a great appreciation of the outdoors, nature and adventure. My mother, born and raised in Africa, and my father, having a military background, have lived, and worked internationally. As such, trotting round the world on my own adventure is something that has come very naturally to me!
At nineteen I left the UK to study Mandarin at Nanjing University in East China, a real-life highlight and a great food tasting opportunity. Since graduating I have travelled most of Far and south east Asia and worked in China organising cultural programmes for westerner students - a very rewarding role. I am passionate about authentic experiences and the best of local food and culture.
During the pandemic, I took a corporate travel job in London. It gave me a detailed understanding of the travel and hospitality industry, but I needed to get back to the frontline. I was keen to do something that combined all the things I loved most; cooking, meeting great people, good weather, and an adventure! Since starting my dream job, I have worked as a chef on private charters in Greece and Croatia, and now the U.S. Virgin Islands.
