• Provide us with any special needs that your baby/toddler has in advance. We will do our best to source the items when provisioning the boat, or be able to let you know what you’ll need to pack to bring with you.

• Obtain a proper sized life jacket for your little one and bring it along with you.

• When on the yacht, please maintain a watch of your baby/toddler at all times, or bring a nanny along if you’d like extra assistance in childcare. While our yacht crews love children, they are not responsible for watching over them.

• Tips for the crew of your yacht. It is customary in our industry to tip our crews at the end of your charter to show appreciation for the exceptional service you received. 15-20% is customary.

• Any drinks or food purchased onshore. If you’d like to visit the local beach bars and restaurants, we’re happy to provide you with our recommendations. We can also assist you in getting there, however, these meals are not covered in your charter rate.

• Any souvenir shopping you partake in. There are unique shops and boutiques on some of the islands we will visit during your charter. If you enjoy shopping, we recommend you budget for this.

• Any advanced water sports you’d like to try or any island excursions you wish to enjoy. If there’s a sport whose equipment we do not have stocked onboard such a kiteboarding, flyboarding, etc., that will be your responsibility to cover. Please let us know in advance if you’d like assistance with these arrangements.

• Any spa treatments. If you’d like to indulge in spa services, we can assist you in either sourcing a technician to come aboard, or planning in a charter stop at a resort with spa facilities. This expense is not included in your charter rate.

There’s no minimum when it comes to guests.

Not at all. Our crews are often couples themselves, and are hospitality professionals at heart. They are well-trained and naturally intuitive to give you as much or as little space as you like. What to Expect BEFORE yacht charter vacations

Once you’ve booked your yacht charter, we will reach out to you to gather your group’s preferences. This is everything from what you do and don’t eat, what you like to drink, and what activities you enjoy. This information will then be passed along to your yacht’s crew so that they can prepare a meal plan for your charter and compile a loose itinerary.

Your crew will arrange a call with you to introduce themselves, become acquainted and discuss your vacation and answer any questions you may have.

Our team will also provide you with detailed information that will assist you with your travel plans, help guide you in what to pack, and answer any pre-arrival questions you have.

What to Expect DURING your charter

Once you arrive into the STT airport and take the pre-arranged short ride to our home base at the Yacht Haven Grande Marina, your luxury yacht charter officially begins. You’ll be welcomed onto your yacht by the crew with drinks and snacks (or a meal, depending on the time of day). Your Captain will share a general itinerary for your trip, though changes can be made throughout based on your preferences (time + weather depending).

You’ll then set off and head to your first stop. Each day, you will spend in a new location, spending each night in a different anchorage. Your daily activities will be based on your location and your group’s preferences – anything from hiking, water sports, relaxing on the boat, floating in the sea, beach bar hopping, and more. All of your drinks, snacks, and meals each day are included.

What to Expect AFTER your vacation

After arriving back to the marina in St. Thomas, most guests will exchange contact information with the crew to share photos and keep in touch post-charter. You’ll tip your crew 15-20% of the charter rate depending on the service received and say your goodbyes.

You can grab food and drinks, or shop in the Yacht Haven Grande Marina. Then, you will head to the airport for your flight. Once home, many of our guests often like to secure the same week the following year. Most guests often with the same crew, too, if possible. DO pack efficiently

Dress comfortably and casually for warm, tropical weather. The Virgin Islands is a casual place, so nothing beyond a sundress will be required for anything you do ashore. We also ask that you pack in soft-sided luggage, so that it may be stored after you unpack. Space is limited on yachts.

DON’T bring spray or non reef-safe sunscreen

Spray sunscreen gets all over the boat and makes surfaces slick, which is unsafe, so we do not allow it onboard. We also provide you with eco sunscreen options that will not damage our reefs. If you prefer your own brand, feel free to bring it as long as it’s labeled “reef safe.”

DON’T disregard your safety

Your captain and crew will provide essential safety briefings and you are expected to follow them. We want you to have an amazing time and so we will provide you with the guidance you need to avoid injuries or other mishaps that could cut your vacation short. Parents, you are responsible for the safety of your children at all times.

DON’T forget to tip your crew

Your yacht crew will work hard throughout your charter to ensure you have the best vacation to date. It is customary in the Caribbean to tip 15-20% of your charter rate at the end of your trip, based on the service you received.

This area consists of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. No passport is required for American citizens, and travel to and from is easy through the STT airport. St. Croix is a slightly longer sail away (which means visiting here is weather-dependent), with an even more laidback vibe.

Spanish Virgin Islands

This area consists of the small islands and cays off of Puerto Rico including Vieques and Culebra. No passport is required for American citizens, and travel to and from is easy through the SJU airport. These islands have an off-the-beaten-path feel, never crowded with tons of untouched nature for your adventures.

British Virgin Islands

This area consists of many small islands and cays, with the largest/most visited being Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. A passport is required for everyone entering, including British citizens. Yacht charters here are easiest when they begin in the neighboring US Virgin Islands, so guests are able to fly in and out of the STT airport on St. Thomas, which is cheaper with more options in comparison to flying into the BVI. The BVI is home to many iconic beach bars, snorkel + diving sites, and incomparable beaches.

The Grenadines

This area consists of many small islands in between the larger islands of St. Vincent and Grenada. A passport is required to enter. Travel here can be accomplished through either the SVD or the GND airports. This island chain is incredibly picturesque and particularly great to visit during the summer/fall months, as they are located outside the hurricane belt. These islands are much quieter and less developed than the other regions, perfect for those looking for a serene escape.

The Bahamas

This area consists of a large chain of islands and cays including familiar favorites such as Abaco, Bimini, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, and more. Travel here is easy due to its close proximity to Miami through a number of airports. There are seemingly endless options here. All of the islands in this region are flat (so no hiking here) which means long stretches of beaches and aqua waters.
